A shooting incident has taken place at Motaketiara, Tangalle today (05 June).

One person has been killed while two others have been injured.

It is noteworthy that several shooting incidents have been reported in Sri Lanka in the recent past. At least 6 people have died within the last week.

• A 27-year-old man was shot dead in Ahangama on 04 June. 
• A soldier placed on duty to guard the residence of Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian MA Sumanthiran shot himself to death on 04 June. 
• A gunman in a motorcycle had opened fire on an individual near Nirmala Mawatha in Panadura, killing him on 03 June. 
• A person was shot dead in Aluthgama, Moragalla on 03 June.
• One person was killed in a shooting incident at Bastian Mawatha in Pettah, on 30 May.
