State Minister of Finance clarifies the Vehicle Import Ban

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (News Cutter) — State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe has stated that the ban on vehicle imports was not discussed at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting.

He stated that the current circumstances cannot guarantee an increase in tax revenue or the lifting of the import ban on vehicles.

He also highlighted the need for consideration of receiving more foreign exchange, an increase in foreign exchange, and long-term economic stabilization.

Semasinghe emphasized that the ban is currently only in effect for personal use and denied media reports suggesting a lifting of the ban.
