Landslide early warning issued for three districts – NBRO

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (News Cutter) – The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued landslide early warnings for a number of places in three districts: Badulla, Galle, and Matale.

The result is that Haldummula in the Badulla district, Elpitiya in the Galle district, and their surrounding areas have been given an Amber (Level 02) warning for a period of 24 hours till 8:30 a.m. tomorrow, March 21.

In the meantime, the Level 1 alert is in place in the Galle district’s Nagoda and Baddegama areas as well as the Matale district’s Ukuwela, Rattota, Wiligamuwa, and Naula divisional secretariat divisions.

As a result, the NBRO exhorts residents of landslide-susceptible areas to exercise particular caution and to follow to their and the Disaster Management Center’s instructions.
