Lanka Coal Company (Private) Limited said today, October 21, that a coal cargo will arrive in Sri Lanka on October 25.
Namal Hewage, general manager of Lanka Coal Company (Private) Limited, said the coal cargo would be delivered by the business that had been previously agreed upon.
He said that the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant could be operated without incident once this consignment of coal arrived.
Currently, Sri Lanka has enough coal in its reserves to run the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant for 30 days.
Up until December 2022, the supplier is expected to send four additional coal cargoes, according to Namal Hewage.
Sri Lanka has already called for tenders to choose a new coal supplier, with a bid deadline of October 25, 2022.
The supplier chosen through the bidding procedure will be permitted to deliver coal to Sri Lanka from December 2022.
