Independent MPs request President to appoint a ‘Truth Commission’ to investigate May (09) incidents

The former ruling party MPs who recently declared themselves as independents in Parliament have requested President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to appoint an independent commission or a ‘Truth Commission‘ to investigate incidents that took place on the 9th of May, 2022.

According to a Press Release dated Thursday (19), The group of Parliamentarians condemn the ‘barbaric attacks’ that were ignited from the Prime Minister’s official residence and spread across the country inciting violence for over three days. They state that the organizers, coordinators and the perpetrators of the violence must be revealed and held accountable.
