IGP summoned to SLPP group meeting

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) CD Wickramaratna was summoned by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to his residence in the presence of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) lawmakers today (14).

A meeting between President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and lawmakers of the SLPP today to discuss the appointment of a Deputy Speaker in Parliament.

Lawmakers had alleged that the police did not do anything to prevent the attacks carried out on the residences and offices of MPs. One parliamentarian had alleged that the army also did not act to prevent attacks.

It was agreed by the IGP that special investigations will be carried out and the perpetrators will be arrested.
