Sri Lanka came close to reaching the milestone of 600,000 visitor arrivals for the year with 27,213 in the first 15 days of November.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority provided preliminary figures showing that, between January 1 and November 15, there were 595,471 visitor arrivals.
The third week of November will likely see more than 60,000 visitors arrive in the island nation. A review of the weekly tourist arrival figures reveals a notable increase in national visitors.
Over 10,000 tourists have visited Sri Lanka for three weeks running as of the fourth week of October.
12,431 visitors arrived in Sri Lanka during the first week of November, while 14,782 visitors—a 19% increase—arrived during the second week.
The largest source market for Sri Lanka was clearly the Russian Federation, which accounted for 25% of all arrivals in the first half of November.
With 16 per cent of all arrivals, India was the second-largest source of tourist travel.
The UK, which received 8% of all arrivals, came in third place.
Other noteworthy markets so far in November include Canada, Australia, and Germany.
