According to the Railways Department, the revised train fares will not go into effect on Tuesday, July 12 as previously stated.
Sri Lanka Railways has also stated that even though the revised fares were published by the media, a decision has been taken to postpone it due to legal issues.

According to the Sri Lanka Railways, railway fares will be increased from midnight on Monday, July 11.
Railway department also said that the minimum fare for a third-class ticket will cost Rs. 20.

Approval has been granted for the amendment of train fares. The proposal tabled by Minister of Transport Bandula Gunawardane has been granted approval during the cabinet meeting held on Monday (27). New train fares are expected to be announced within the week.
