Woman Arrested for Operating Fraudulent University in Bambalapitiya

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (News Cutter) —A 24-year-old woman has been arrested for operating a fraudulent educational institute in Bambalapitiya, offering courses for overseas employment.

The woman, a resident of Giriulla, provided fake diplomas and higher degrees. The institute attracted students from various parts of the country and conducted online classes. The suspect charged between Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 445,000 for the degrees.

The police have received 43 complaints against the suspect and the institution, with over 1000 people caught in the scam.

Investigations are now underway to apprehend the 25-year-old man who also served as the institute’s Director.
