DELFT, Sri Lanka (News Cutter) – Tragedy struck the small island community of Delft today, April 22, when three women and two men lost their lives in a brutal attack.
According to reports, one person managed to escape with critical injuries, and the owner of the house where the crime took place was among the deceased.
Sources have revealed that two of the victims were from Jaffna, while the other three had recently returned from abroad.
The sole survivor is currently undergoing treatment at Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
Delft police are conducting an investigation into the incident, however, there are reports that the Criminal Investigation Department(CID) may take over the case shortly.
Furthermore, the islands have been sealed off completely, and nobody is allowed in or out.
Moreover, ferry and boat services from Delft and Kurikadduwan have been temporarily suspended, adding to the sense of isolation and unease among residents.
It is worth noting that law enforcement is leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to uncover any clues that might lead to the culprits, but the reason for the murders remains unknown. (Lahiru Doloswala)
