In a recent address during the 84th phase of the Universe bus distribution program at Trincomalee Kinniya Central College, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa voiced concerns about attempts to hinder the Universe Smart Classroom and Universe School Bus programs. Premadasa emphasized that obstructing these initiatives, aimed at bolstering smart education, is tantamount to disrupting the country’s school system.
Premadasa argued that enhancing education is vital, as it not only benefits the 4.1 million students across the country but also contributes to building a smarter and stronger nation.
Addressing the audience, Premadasa stressed that both sides of the political spectrum should prioritize smart education over prison construction. He pledged to persevere with these programs, undeterred by challenges, emphasizing their role in fostering smart students and, consequently, a smart nation.
Acknowledging the rising poverty levels in the country, Premadasa positioned smart education as a pivotal strategy for poverty eradication. By strengthening education, enhancing knowledge, and creating income-generating employment opportunities, the Leader of the Opposition believes that the country can uplift itself from poverty.
Moreover, Premadasa unveiled plans for providing free health facilities for young women, citing the potential to combat kidney infections and cervical cancer through this initiative. The Opposition Leader’s speech highlighted the multifaceted impact of smart education on the nation’s socio-economic landscape, emphasizing its role in creating a brighter and healthier future.
