President Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized the necessity of information transfer and the launch of projects such as the Fulbright Program, which exposes students to diverse cultures while assuring their professional development.
President Wickremesinghe stated this while attending an event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the commencement of the binational Fulbright exchange program between Sri Lanka and the United States on Wednesday, November 16.
The Fulbright program in Sri Lanka–founded in 1952 to assist short-term academic exchanges, was later expanded and turned into a long-term agreement between the two countries.
The Fulbright program in Sri Lanka is entirely funded by the United States government, and it allows outstanding young scholars to complete graduate degree programs with substantial scholarship support, scholars and professionals to teach and conduct research, and teachers to receive beneficial training.
