The country’s main opposition Party, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), will be nominating its leader Sajith Premadasa for the position of President in a vote expected to be held on July 20.

After concluding the party leaders meeting Yesterday, on July 11, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, General Secretary of the SJB said that the party has unanimously decided to nominate Sajith Premadasa for the post of President.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is expected to resign tomorrow, July 13 as previously announced.

The Parliament is expected to meet on Friday, July 15 to announce the nomination period. Nominations will be called and submitted on July 19, subsequently.
