COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, (News Cutter) – The maximum retail price of 60 different medicines will be reduced by 16% starting today, June 15, as announced by Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a decision to reduce medicine prices in Sri Lanka. The National Medicines Regulatory Authority, established under the National Medicines Regulatory Authority Act No. 5 of 2015, will oversee the implementation of this regulation.
The price reduction is attributed to the appreciation of the Sri Lankan Rupee against the US Dollar. The new prices will be effective for three months. Previously, due to currency depreciation, the Ministry of Health had allowed significant increases in medicine prices. Th
