SL finalizes legal framework for oil exploration, set to issue licenses to 900 offshore blocks

The Power and Energy Ministry said that the Petroleum Development Authority of Sri Lanka (PDASL) would resume work on the exploration of assets in roughly 900 blocks around the country that had been identified with eligible investors.

Kanchana Wijesekera, the minister of power and energy, today, January 13, published an extraordinary gazette notification (2313/47) in this regard.

According to the statement, “The Ministry had signed the laws completing the Legal Framework for Offshore Oil and Gas Exploration Investments in Sri Lanka.”
