President expresses gratitude to India and its expatriates for their help to SL

India and Sri Lanka are like two halves of the same coin. Both countries have distinctive cultural and religious traditions. There are similarities, though. We all share a shared interest in “Diwali,” according to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The President made these statements yesterday, October 29, while addressing an audience at the Diwali celebrations organised by the Colombo Expats Cultural Association (CECA) at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo.

Diwali is an occasion that naturally brings people together to celebrate with family and friends.

The President praised CECA for planning the event and recognised their dedication to Sri Lanka during a time of need in order to brighten the lives of impoverished kids amid the epidemic and crisis.

The High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Gopal Baglay, First Lady Prof. Mithree Wickramasinghe, Baglay, Senior Adviser to the President on National Security and President’s Chief of Staff Sagala Ratnayake, Secretary to the President Saman Ekanayake, President of CECA Capt. A. Banerjee and several other officials attended the event.
