Parliament adjourned following a protest by opposition MPs

Opposition MPs organised a protest in Parliament today, February 21, during the parliamentary session, asking that actions be done to hold the local government (LG) election.

As a result, the Speaker decided to suspend the session until tomorrow at 9.30 a.m., February 22.

The Committee on Parliamentary Affairs decided to assemble the parliament from today till February 24. As a result, the session began at 9.30 a.m. this morning under the leadership of the Speaker, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

The parliamentary session today was intended to include discussions on a number of orders connected to the bills.
