NASA Scientists Visit Sri Lanka for Research on Martian Rock Similarities

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (News Cutter) – A team of NASA scientists, led by Senior Scientist Mr Sunithi Karunathilake, is currently visiting Sri Lanka to investigate the alleged similarities between stones found on the island and those on Mars.

The team will explore areas such as Ginigalpalassa (GGP), Indikolapalassa (IP), and Ussangoda in the Southern Province. Mr Karunathilake stated that Sri Lanka’s geographical features bear significant resemblances to Martian rocks and soil. Ven. Kapugolle Anandakiththi Thero, a senior lecturer at the University of Kelaniya, identified two specific types of rocks in the area, known as the Blue Marble Rock (Nil Garuda) and the Moonstone (Chandrakantha).

Further research is needed to determine the appropriate Sinhala names for these rocks.
