Shipment carrying 60k MT of coal arrives in SL

According to the chairman of the Ceylon Coal Company, a ship carrying a shipment of coal has arrived in Puttalam.

The shipment contains 60,000 metric tonnes of coal.

Due to a scarcity of coal to provide the required amount of electricity, Sri Lanka is currently experiencing a power crisis.

Currently, daily power outages of more than two hours are in effect.

In December 2022, CEB Trade Unions frequently cautioned that a scarcity of coal might cause 10- to 13-hour power disruptions in 2023.
