Activist Randimal Gamage granted bail
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has granted bail to Randimal Gamage, a frontline activist of the ‘Aragalaya’ protest movement who was arrested on January 5.
Gamage was detained following his arrival from Dubai at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake. The reason for the detention was the July 2017 event in which a group of anti-government demonstrators broke into the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).
The Cinnamon Garden Police then brought him before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
After taking into account the information provided by the police and the attorneys for the accused, Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna de Alwis approved Gamage’s release on two surety bails at Rs. 200,000 each.
On Monday, January 9. the case is scheduled to be recalled.
