Ministry of Agriculture takes specimens from dead livestock in North and East

Ministry of Agriculture has taken specimens from dead livestock in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

Specimens from the deceased animal will be tested in a lab at the Gannoruwa Veterinary Research Institute.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the dead animal’s specimens will be tested to determine the cause of death.

Since Thursday, December 8, over 1,000 cattle, buffaloes, and goats have been reported dead in the Northern and Eastern provinces.

Despite reports that the animals died due to cold weather, experts visited the area to collect samples for further testing to determine the exact cause.

In the Northern and Eastern Provinces, 802 cattle, 34 buffalos, and 256 goats have died in the last few days.
