The first privately-owned airline in Sri Lanka to begin international passenger flights will be the New private airlineFitsAir, a low-cost carrier sponsored by the multinational conglomerate Aberdeen Holdings Group, on October 5.
The airline’s initial passenger flight will connect Katunayake’s Bandaranaike International Airport with Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Dubai will launch on October 5, Male in the Maldives will launch on October 10, and Trichy in India will launch on October 28.
Each of these overseas locations will have three flights each week operated by the airline.
According to FitsAir officials, the airline would keep concentrating on South and Southeast Asia, the Gulf Council nations, and destinations in the SAARC region.
In addition to one free piece of hand luggage weighing seven kilogrammes, the low-cost airline will provide a free checked-in baggage allowance of 30 kilogrammes. Additionally, FitsAir will provide discounted prices for bags weighing no more than 20 kg.
With a seating capacity of 164, FitsAir will operate its flights with the Airbus A320-200, of which 156 seats are in Economy Class and eight are in Economy Plus.
