20-foot Whale Shark washed up ashore

A rare Whale Shark has washed up on Mulativu shore last Saturday (02). According to officials, the Shark has been struck by a boat propeller. It has been buried in a nearby area upon inspection.

Considered the largest known extant fish species, the Whale shark is a slow-moving, filter-feeding carpet shark. It holds numerous size records, most notably being the largest living nonmammalian vertebrate.
