Chief government whip, Prasanna Ranatunge stated that the government has no intention to oust the governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), Nandalal Weerasinghe. He said this while responding to a question raised by opposition MP Rohini Kavirathne in Parliament on Tuesday, September 6.
The former governor of the CBSL is receiving salaries of a Minister and pension as a former governor at CBSL apart from his regular pension while trying to oust the current governor by critisizing him.

We have no intention to oust the governor. He was appointed by the former President and the current President even extended his time period.

Furthermore, Ranathunge said that the Opposition is attempting to cause a scene by exaggerating. He said he is doubtful whether the Opposition that really wants the governor ousted.
