The 18 health workers’ trade unions called of the on going strike temporarily after nine days of continuous protests.
“All 18 health workers’ trade unions currently on strike decide to temporarily call off their strike for 14 days from 8.00 am tomorrow,” said Ravi Kumudesh, President of the Health professionals’ Union.
Earlier, the union said that they would not call off the strike until their demands are met with.
18 trade unions including nurses and pharmacists had put forth several demands to the Minister of Health. Since, the ministry paid a deaf ear to its requests, the union launched an island-wide strike.
