“No changes have been made in the decision to perform a safe shutdown of power plants and power systems at midnight today,” confirmed Isuru Kasthuriratne, Joint Secretary of the CEBEU front representatives to News Cutter exclusively at 9:20 PM on June 8.
Speaking to us previously, Isuru said that a safe shutdown will only come in to picture if the government does not send a competent authority to manage the power plants while the union holds a strike.
The CEBEU is stern about not calling off its trade union action unless its demands are addresses by the Ministry of Power and Energy.
If CEBEU performs a safe shutdown, then the country will face a power failure, which, according to the CEBEU will continue as long as their strike lasts.
